President Obama was in the Central Valley to unveil plans for a new national monument honoring labor and civil rights icon Cesar Chavez who founded the United Farm Workers union. During a ceremony in Kern County yesterday, the President said Chavez gave a voice to poor and disenfranchised workers everywhere. Obama called the monument a tribute to a great man and a great movement.
