Obama Unveils Plans For Cesar Chavez National Monument

Pres­i­dent Obama was in the Cen­tral Val­ley to unveil plans for a new national mon­u­ment hon­or­ing labor and civil rights icon Cesar Chavez who founded the United Farm Work­ers union. Dur­ing a cer­e­mony in Kern County yes­ter­day, the Pres­i­dent said Chavez gave a voice to poor and dis­en­fran­chised work­ers every­where. Obama called the mon­u­ment a trib­ute to a great man and a great movement.
