Pedestrian Hit, Dies

A man who was hit by a vehi­cle while walk­ing in a cross­walk died on Sat­ur­day night in Porter­ville, the Porter­ville Police Depart­ment said. The 59-year-old male vic­tim, whose name wasn’t released pend­ing noti­fi­ca­tion of next of kin, was found in the road with major injuries, the police said. He was trans­ported to Sierra View Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal where he later died from his injuries. Accord­ing to police, the man was walk­ing north across Hen­der­son Avenue in a marked cross­walk at Sec­ond Street when he was hit by a vehi­cle trav­el­ing west­bound on Hen­der­son Avenue.
