Tulare Kmart at center of lawsuit

The Kmart in Tulare isn’t the newest or biggest store in the retail chain. But a law­suit filed on behalf of 65 cur­rent and for­mer cashiers there could change the way Cal­i­for­nia retail stores and other busi­nesses oper­ate. The law­suit cen­ters on whether the depart­ment store vio­lated a little-known Cal­i­for­nia labor rule requir­ing employ­ers to pro­vide chairs or stools for work­ers “when the nature of the work rea­son­ably per­mits the use of seats.”
