Tulare County sues city over redevelopment amendment

Tulare County is suing the City of Porter­ville, which in 2010 expanded its rede­vel­op­ment area over the county’s protest. The county has filed a civil com­plaint against the city con­cern­ing the valid­ity of an amend­ment to its Rede­vel­op­ment Plan for the Porter­ville Rede­vel­op­ment Project Area No. 1. Improve­ments to prop­erty located within the rede­vel­op­ment area were funded by col­lect­ing an incre­ment of prop­erty taxes that grew as a result of new development.
