Cal Grant’s tighter eli­gi­bil­ity stan­dards have now made it tougher for those stu­dents who are look­ing for finan­cial assis­tance to attend col­leges like San Joaquin Val­ley and Uni­ver­sity of Phoenix.
Last year, the Cal­i­for­nia leg­is­la­ture adopted tougher stan­dards to where col­leges that didn’t meet a 30 per­cent grad­u­a­tion rate and a loan default rate of less than 15.5 per­cent were ruled inel­i­gi­ble to receive money from the finan­cial aid program.
