Jury selection

Jury selec­tion is under­way in the Megan Martzen mur­der trial. Martzen was 18-years old when she was arrested and charged with mur­der­ing 17-month old Ella Van Leeuwen while she was babysit­ting the child. Martzen’s attor­ney has argued through­out her mul­ti­ple court pro­ceed­ings that the young woman from Reed­ley was not only inno­cent, but that Van Leeuwen’s death — albeit tragic — was an acci­dent.
Accord­ing to the defense, Van Leeuwen fell off a bed while Martzen was babysit­ting, and frac­tured her skull, result­ing in her death.
