Lawmakers Consider Tougher Gun Controls

State law­mak­ers are con­sid­er­ing tougher gun con­trol laws in the wake of the school shoot­ings in New­town, Con­necti­cut. A joint leg­isla­tive hear­ing was held at the Capi­tol yes­ter­day where law­mak­ers inspected var­i­ous weapons brought in by the Depart­ment of Jus­tice. Gun advo­cates also told law­mak­ers they should focus on exist­ing gun con­trol mea­sures instead of pass­ing new laws. Many con­sider California’s gun con­trol laws to be some of the tough­est in the nation.
