Accord­ing to fig­ures released by the Obama Admin­is­tra­tion, Cal­i­for­nia faces mil­lions in bud­get cuts, unless Con­gress acts to pre­vent a bud­get sequester. If law­mak­ers fail to delay $85 bil­lion in across-the-board cuts, 64,000 defense jobs are said to be at risk.
Accord­ing to the White House’s state-by-state break­down, mil­lions in fund­ing for mil­i­tary bases through­out the state would also be slashed. Addi­tion­ally, Cal­i­for­nia law enforce­ment agen­cies face reduc­tions upwards of $1.6 mil­lion. Edu­ca­tion pro­grams could also lose a com­bined $150 mil­lion, with pub­lic health fund­ing los­ing $15 million.
