According to figures released by the Obama Administration, California faces millions in budget cuts, unless Congress acts to prevent a budget sequester. If lawmakers fail to delay $85 billion in across-the-board cuts, 64,000 defense jobs are said to be at risk.
According to the White House’s state-by-state breakdown, millions in funding for military bases throughout the state would also be slashed. Additionally, California law enforcement agencies face reductions upwards of $1.6 million. Education programs could also lose a combined $150 million, with public health funding losing $15 million.
